Station Park overnight stop at Kempton, being a small historic town in Tasmania located on the Midlands Highway that connects Launceston to Hobart, and that is some 48 kilometres from Hobart. Kempton is a small, but pretty town with a permanent population of less than 400 persons. This is a great small free overnight camping area with a couple of powered sites that you can stay for a mximum of 24-hours, or for non-powered sites up t0 48-hours. Kempton roadside stop, Station Park is suitable for staying in motorhomes, campervans or caravans with all vehicles having to be fully self-contained. There is a dump point in Kempton. There is also a barbecue and shelter and the site is big enough for you to drive through and easily maneuver you vehicle. There is an excellent local hotel that is within easy walking distance that serves counter meals, and a few other shops and services. This is a popular free overnight stay as an alternative to paying to stay in a commercial caravan park in Hobart. There is no shade, but there is a small shelter nad barbecue at the southern end of this stop.

Free overnight stop (up to 48-hours maximum in a non-powered site) Kempton in Southern Tasmania located centrally in the main street of Kempton on grassy, flat land and with plenty of space for a significant number of vans. The area can comfortably accommodate approximately 20-25 self-contained RV vehicles. Tent camping is not permitted, nor is camping in cars. Visitors to this location can easily park their vehicles and walk around the historic town of Kempton being an easy stroll to local facilities.. There are no bookings, and no costs. You have to have a fully self-contained motorhome, campervan or caravan to stay at the Kempton RV Friendly park, which is located right in the centre of the small Tassie town of Kempton, being some 45-minutes drive from the capital city Hobart. Vehicles that carry its own water supply containing internal washing and toilet facilities, and has an onboard wastewater storage tank can stay at the location. Camping in tents is not permitted.

A vehicle is deemed to satisfy the requirement to be a fully self-contained vehicle if it is accredited by the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia under its Self Contained Vehicles Policy of 2016, and displays a current SCV panel issued by the CMCA.
